Ms. Nancy Link joined Idaho Kenpo in 2003 to help her granddaughter who struggles with ADD. She knew the discipline and focus would help her granddaughter but she had no idea how much it would benefit herself personally and that she would love it so much. She states she was never athletic, was overweight and had no balance or stamina. She has earned her 2nd degree black belt. She is now healthy and in great shape. She says “I’m strong, have great balance and love my Kenpo family.” In the summer of 2008 she participated in the Long Beach International Tournament where she received two first place trophies – one for sparring and one for self-defense techniques. A man she competed against came up to her and said “I’m 35 and I was thinking I was too old for this. You’ve proven me wrong.” It hasn’t been a fast change but it’s been a marvelous journey. She wishes she’d started at a younger age, but she’s grateful she started. Karate has helped her feel more confident, stronger and happier. My son and grandson also do Kenpo. It is wonderful family activity.
